Message from Chair, OHCEA 3RD International One Health Conference
DR FRANK MWINE
Chair, OHCEA 3RD International One Health Conference
It is indeed my pleasure; on behalf of the One Health Central and Eastern Africa (OHCEA), to welcome you to this conference on ‘Harnessing One Health for Global Health Security’.
We expect over 300 participants, given the increasing importance of One Health and the significant interest it is generating, globally and in the region. It is exciting to think about the depth and richness of the discussions that we anticipate to engage in. The conference theme is especially timely as we intensify efforts to efforts to ensure global health security.
Our keynote speakers are men and women with expertise and global knowledge in their chosen areas.
It is an honor for me to preside over this process and work with a wonderful, dedicated team, ensuring that you get the best out of this conference. Successfully organizing this conference has required the talents, dedication and time of teams in different locations.
We hope you will find the conference program comprehensive and the proceedings enjoyable and valuable. Please do find time to explore the natural beauty of Kampala (the city of Seven Hills) and the rest of Uganda.
I particularly warmly welcome students from Africa, South East Asia and other parts of the world, who are joining us for the time. We have designed some sessions that we believe will be especially beneficial for the students. You are most welcome and we hope this will be a great learning and networking experience for you.
I would like to express gratitude to our main sponsor – USAID for the sustained funding for One Health work in the region. Many thanks to our partners; University of Minnesota and Tufts University for their dedication to organizing the conference. When you have hundreds of dedicated professionals travelling across the globe to participate in an event you have put together; it is indeed an honor.
Once again, I welcome you to this conference and to Kampala-Uganda! Karibu Sana!
